哥倫比亞大學(Columbia University)，全稱紐約市哥倫比亞大學(Columbia University in the City of New York)，簡稱哥大，是一所位于美國紐約市的私立研究型大學，常春藤盟校之一。哥倫比亞大學是紐約州歷史最悠久的大學，同樣也是美國第五古老的大學。時 至今日，哥倫比亞大學全球海外中心遍布世界各地，諸如安曼、北京、伊斯坦布爾、巴黎、孟買、里約熱內(nèi)盧、圣地亞哥和內(nèi)羅畢。

哥倫比亞大學是世界最具聲望的高等學府。它位于美國紐約市曼哈頓的晨邊高地，瀕臨哈德遜河，在中央公園北面。它于1754年根據(jù)英國國王喬治二世頒 布的《國王憲章》而成立，被命名為國王學院，是美洲大陸最古老的學院之一。同屬皇家憲章的還有達特茅斯學院和威廉瑪麗學院。1784年曾改名為“哥倫比亞 學院”，美國獨立戰(zhàn)爭后為紀念發(fā)現(xiàn)美洲大陸的哥倫布而更名為哥倫比亞學院，1896年成為哥倫比亞大學。同年，哥倫比亞大學從麥迪遜大道遷往了曼哈頓附近 的晨邊高地，使學校擁有了六個街區(qū)約32英畝的土地。哥倫比亞大學由20個學院和眾多下屬研究機構組成，其中知名的學院包括商學院、新聞界名人約瑟夫·普 利策1912年創(chuàng)辦的新聞學院、教育學院以及工程與應用科學學院等。
