劍橋大學(英語：University of Cambridge;俗稱：Cambridge University 或 Cambridge)簡稱劍橋，是一所位于英國英格蘭劍橋市的公立研究型大學，始創(chuàng)于1209年，亦是英語世界里第二古老的大學。劍橋大學和牛津大學經(jīng)常 被合稱為“牛劍”，除了兩所大學在文化和現(xiàn)實上的協(xié)作已成為英國社會史的一部分外，兩所大學長久以來一直存在競爭。

劍橋大學獲評為是世界上最杰出及最頂尖的大學之一。劍橋大學為書院聯(lián)邦制大學，目前共有31所住宿書院(又譯“學院”;Colleges)，而各個 學術部門則被歸入六個主要的學術學院(Schools)里。它也是眾多學術聯(lián)盟的成員之一，為英國其中一所金三角名校。劍橋大學也是誕生最多諾貝爾獎得主 的高等學府共有89名諾貝爾獎得主現(xiàn)在或曾經(jīng)在劍橋大學學習或工作。

最早是由一批為躲避毆斗而從牛津大學(University of Oxford)逃離出來的老師建立的，亨利三世國王在1231年授予劍橋教學壟斷權。劍橋大學和牛津大學齊名為英國的兩所最優(yōu)秀的大學，由于這兩所古老的 大學在辦學模式等很多方面都很相似，故常被合稱為“Oxbridge”(“牛劍”)，89位諾貝爾獎得主出自此校(實際來此校工作或執(zhí)教過的人數(shù)可能更 多，有指超過100位。因為劍橋大學官方的數(shù)據(jù)是根據(jù)學生或教師是否為學院的成員(Membership/Fellowship)而定。另外，其實每個大 學對計算這個數(shù)字的原則都有不同的定義，如：有些大學并不計算那些在得獎以后才到有關院校的人而有些大學則仍將其計算在內;有些亦不計算在校任教不足1年 的教職員但其他的卻仍視其為與該校有聯(lián)系的得獎主。因此，不同網(wǎng)站(包括校方官網(wǎng))所給的資訊都會有差別)。
